1) FOUNDER's DAY FETE

  • YN and FL checked that payments from After-School Activities were being received and confirmed that there are no problems in the system.
  • Rafael Braga's J1/2/3 football team became Champion of the Rio leg of the FOX KIDS Football Competition held at Zico's Football Club in Barra over last weekend. The team won all four rounds and in a closely fought final won on penalties. Very pleasing to the supporting families was the excellent team spirit and commitment this team of 7-9 year olds showed. The PTA offered it congratulations to Rafael, Guilherme (the teacher/coaches) and the team.
  • YN will approach the Capoeira teachers to ask if they and their pupils can give a demonstration of Capoeira at the FDF.

2) FOUNDER's DAY FETE / FUND RAISING

  • LD confirmed that since there is no INSET day on the calendar we will have to pay the School workers.
  • 75 year T-shirts were shown and appreciated by the Committee. DL made a rota for selling T-shirts before school for the remainder of the week.
  • Since the T-shirts are part of the Fund Raising activity the communication requesting parents and pupils to purchase will be sent out by the school.
  • Raffle tickets have been printed. RJ will arrange distribution to each family.
  • The N1 and N2 Mother's Day event was very successful and raised R$2200 for the URCA Fund Raising Project. NOTE: The vicar was unhappy in using the Hall for Gambling (into which he classified the picture Lotto)
  • LD will produce a job list/rota for Committee members for the next meeting.
  • Class 11 requested that they should receive the proceeds from their stall at the FDF for their graduation party. The committee agreed to adopt the same stand as last year, namely, the PTA would release funds on receipt of a proposal for the party up to the value collected at the FDF.

3) PTA Assistant

  • FL will be the PTA Assistant's manager and be her point of contact. FL will liase with Claudia to finalise arrangements.

4) OTHER

  • LD has organised purchasing netting to protect the veranda on the Thompson Building.
  • AS presented a proposal using sand covered by netting as a solution to the safety problems of the lower primary toys. The Committee, who felt that problems with cats would transfer one problem into another, did not accept this. MC will investigate importing or other solutions for protecting the floor so the toys can be re-introduced into the lower primary playgrounds as soon as possible.
  • FL, GH and MC would meet as the Transport Committee after FDF.

5) Next meeting: Monday 24 May 1999 19.00

Agenda Items: Sub-committee reports, Fund Raising, Founder's Day Fete, AOB
