Dear Parents,

Activities will begin on March 1 st . The attached application forms should be filled out and sent to the PTA Office.All children interested in participating in an after-school activity should complete and send in an application form; one form per child, per activity. Priority will be given to the children on a first come first served basis. All new students will be notified by phone before March 1 st, should they have a place in the chosen activity. If this does not occur, please contact the teacher.

The payments should always be made during the first week of each month. Please observe this rule! PTA envelopes will be sent out each month, which can be used to remit cheques to the teachers. To avoid problems, payments sent by PTA envelopes should be made in nominal cheques, payable to the teacher of that activity.

The cheques should be payable to:

• Capoeira: Omri Breda
• Judo: Paulo André Gama

Our aim is to teach this art in a cooperative, non-violent way, so that the children have the opportunity to participate in singing, playing musical instruments or learning the basic movements.

Capoeira allows small children to remember movements they used quite naturally as toddlers, such as squatting, crawling and moving on all fours. The songs and musical instruments help to stimulate the children’s curiosity in Brazilian Folklore.

Judo is a fighting sport with educational aims. In Judo lessons the pupils develop both social and physical skills. They are able to reflect on areas they need to improve, learn to respect others and appreciate the differences that exist between individuals, enabling them to participate in a structured and caring society.
